Canonical bundle formula and degenerating families of volume forms

Dano Kim : 3 p.m. in SEO636
Abstract The canonical bundle formula due to Kawamata and others has played fundamental roles in the Minimal Model Program. I will present an analytic version (i.e. a refinement with a new proof) of the canonical bundle formula of Kawamata in the context of singular hermitian metrics. Our methods use L2 metrics and the valuative equivalence of plurisubharmonic singularities. As an application, we use it to identify which functions/sections can actually be extended in a general L2 extension theorem of Demailly. This talk is based on arXiv:1910.06917v5 and its recent updates.

Global Rigidity of Codimenson One Actions

Camilo Arosemena Serrato of University of Michigan : 4 p.m. in 636 SEO
Abstract This talk concerns the geometric classification of smooth, locally free, codimension-one actions of higher-rank simple Lie groups G (e.g., SL(n,R), n at least 3) on closed manifolds M. We show that M is G-equivariantly diffeomorphic (up to a finite cover) to G/\Gamma x S^1, for a uniform lattice \Gamma of G, if and only if it admits a probability measure that is mixing for a minimal parabolic subgroup P of G. When such a P-mixing probability measure does not exist, we show that M is a fiber bundle over a boundary space of G, i.e., over G/Q for some parabolic subgroup Q of G. This result is in the spirit of the Zimmer program.
