Abstract
Finding an algorithm to solve equation systems in groups is an old and hard problem. There is no algorithm which solves arbitrary equation systems in arbitrary finitely presented groups. However, algorithms have been shown to exist in many important classes of groups. I will talk about an algorithm which solves equation systems in central extensions of hyperbolic groups.
