Abstract
I will give an introduction to the minimal model program, which is a long and still ongoing journey of algebraic geometers trying to find relative simple representatives of algebraic varieties. I will also talk about theorems of singularities occurring in the minimal model program. This talk is meant to be accessible for graduate students of all levels; no technical knowledge of algebraic geometry is expected.
