Abstract
It is well-known that moduli of surfaces of general type can be compactified by stable semi log canonical surfaces of Kollár and Shepherd-Barron. However, lack of explicit examples makes the global structure of these moduli spaces a bit mysterious. I will report on work in progress (joint with Giancarlo Urzua and Paul Hacking), where we investigate the boundary in case of surfaces with $p_g = q = 0$.
