Abstract
D-optimal designs for nonlinear chemical kinetics model and 2n-compartment models are investigated. We develop a method to obtain lower bounds of the maximal numbers of D-optimal design points to facility the computational search for the optimal design points in practice. We also investigate the conditions when the D-optimal design is the saturated design for bounded and unbounded design spaces. For each model discussed, the D-efficiency when the parameter misspecification happens is discussed.
