Abstract

In this talk we present a model theoretic proof of the following theorem due to Bieri and Groves. Theorem. Let $V\subseteq (\mathbb{C}^*)^n$ be a variety. For $h>0$ let $A_h$ be the set $h\cdot log(|V|)$ and $A_0= lim_{h->0} A_h$. Then $A_0$ is a semi-linear cone in $\mathbb{R}^n$.
