Abstract

Hilbert's Fifth Problem for Local Groups roughly asks whether every locally euclidean local group is locally isomorphic to a Lie group. After giving a brief history, I will present a positive solution to the question. The proof uses nonstandard methods and the relevant notions from nonstandard analysis will be explained.
