Abstract

In algebraic geometry, singular spaces arise naturally. In this talk, we introduce the notion of a singularity, focusing on concrete examples of curves in the plane. We will also explore the blowup map which resolves singularities in these cases. The talk only assumes knowledge of some basic calculus.
