Abstract
We will have a research seminar this semester on forking, broadly construed, particularly in the setting of unstable first-order theories. Graduate students are particularly encouraged to attend. Following our discussion of the relationship between F_Mb and the ranks of canonical bases, we will introduce k-linearity, a property defined by Buechler that quantifies the possible ranks of canonical bases of plane curves. After giving some examples, we will then state the pseudolinearity theorem of Buechler/Tomasic and Wagner, and potentially discuss the proof. We will conclude by talking about some problems for possible future discussion.
