Abstract

The splinter property is a classical subject in positive- and mixed-characteristic commutative algebra. The long-standing conjecture that a regular Noetherian ring is a splinter was solved only recently. In this talk, we will discuss a relative version of this problem, and how ultrapower shows up in the attack.
