Abstract

The degree of irrationality is one of the high-dimensional analogues of gonality of curves. In this talk, I will discuss the paper Measures of irrationality for hypersurfaces of large degrees by Bastianelli, De Poi, Ein, Lazarsfeld and Ullery. If time permits, I will talk about some recent progress on computing or bounding degree of irrationality for hypersurfaces under different conditions.
