Abstract

Building on foundational work of Brendan Hassett and recent work of Lai on the connections between K3 surfaces and cubic fourfolds, Farkas-Verra have proven the rationality of the universal K3 surface of genus 14. This talk will describe their (surprisingly explicit) work and survey the relevant past results.
