Abstract

We discuss a subject at the confluence of the theory of induced group representations and spectral theory in Hilbert spaces, studying the problem of some differential operators on an affine space being invariant only for a discrete subgroup and concentrating on the case of interest for mathematical physics, that of periodic quantum Hamiltonians.
