Abstract

In 1944 Emil Post posed a problem, whether there is any r.e. degree strictly between 0 and 0′. This problem was solved independently by Friedberg and Muchnik in the 1950's. We will learn the notion and some results about simple sets. They will be crucial in a few weeks, when we will look at the proof of Post's problem.
