Abstract
I will define deformations in increasingly general settings starting with deformations of closed subschemes following Hartshornes's book on deformation theory. In order to do so, I will define the $T^i$ functors. I will finish with a discussion of the infinitesimal lifting property and what the vanishing of the $T^i$ tells us.
