Abstract
This talk will focus on two important principles in statistical inference, namely, sufficiency and conditioning. After a brief introduction to these two concepts, I will discuss the exaggerated importance of sufficiency compared to conditioning, and present some new perspectives based on tools from partial differential equations. I will attempt to explain the general ideas through simple examples.
