Abstract
The Ricci flow has been a powerful tool in the study of three-dimensional manifolds. I will discuss the behavior of this flow on an important class of four-dimensional manifolds: the Kahler surfaces. In addition, I will discuss a flow which generalizes the Kahler-Ricci flow called the Chern-Ricci flow. This is a geometric flow on complex manifolds, recently introduced by M. Gill. I will describe some recent results and conjectures in the case of complex surfaces.
