Abstract
It is well-known that the sum of special values of the $GL(2)$ Eisenstein series is equal to (up to some factors) $\zeta(s)L(s,\chi_d)$, where $\zeta(s)$ is the Riemann zeta function and $L(s, \chi_d)$ is the quadratic Dirichlet $L$-series. In this talk, I will describe a new proof for this old result, using a multiple Dirichlet series associated to binary quadratic forms. In addition, I will describe generalizations and extensions.
