Abstract

In many branches of mathematics there are major guiding problems which are impossible to solve but motivate nonetheless much of the research in the area. In algebraic geometry one such problem is the classification of algebraic varieties. In this talk I will use tools from two areas devoted to that goal: The Minimal Model Program (MMP) and Theory of Moduli Spaces to understand (classify) polynomials of degree two (and their degeneration.)
